Interesting. And further illustrates that, in yet another situation, there are much better ways to spend my tax dollars. After all, once one is addicted, the situation really isn’t a matter of legality, but maintaining a state physical well-being. An addict will not be helped by threats of  incarceration. Even after serving time, more often than not, an addict picks up right where (s)he left off. If I have to pay to sustain an addict, I’d much rather be paying to help them, rather than paying for a really long, ineffective time-out.
